Digital tools for construction - we're ready when you are

Brymec’s business strapline is ‘Built for tomorrow’ and it underpins what we do as a business, whether that’s through innovation in products or processes. It also includes our use of technology to improve our own operations and to help our customers in their day-to-day jobs.

For instance, over the past few years, the government has driven the use of Building Information Modelling (BIM), making it compulsory on government construction projects.  BIM offers many benefits such as enabling greater sharing of information across the construction team, and easier clash detection for installers.

One of the big elements of BIM is that designers must be able to access BIM objects from manufacturers to use in their models. Brymec has already developed 182 of these ‘BIM objects’ which can be downloaded quickly from our website. This means it’s easy to find and use these BIM elements which can also be ordered online during the procurement process.

But Brymec isn’t only focusing on the design stage of the construction process. We have also recently adopted artificial intelligence (AI) in our warehouse management. The system tracks orders over time and can predict the likelihood of future demand levels for certain products. This allows Brymec’s warehouse management team to order ahead and pre-empt rising demand.

At a time when market volatility has made it difficult to locate some products, AI technology is benefiting Brymec customers by giving them peace of mind that we’ll have the products they need – when they’re needed.  This is further supported by our website, which offers a fast way to find and order products for delivery or pickup.

For busy procurement managers, the Brymec website provides accounts for easy tracking of orders and spending. It’s even possible to allocate spending allowances to on-site teams so that they can quickly buy tools or fittings in a no-paperwork, no-fuss process.

We are also harnessing digital technology to help with Brymec’s net-zero journey. By using digital mapping tools to plan our site deliveries, Brymec’s fleet is traveling fewer miles – helping to reduce the carbon footprint of every product we deliver.

In many ways, tomorrow’s construction industry is already with us. Leading main contractors are harnessing technology to model digital buildings so their clients can see building outcomes long before foundations are even in place. The construction industry is increasingly about components and sub-assemblies built off-site and delivered for rapid connections – which means installers must be ready to work quickly and efficiently.

Brymec is not only using digital technology to ensure that it’s ready for the modern construction industry, but we are also keeping our team of in-house experts up-to-date with the latest tools and techniques. This means they’re ready to help our customers make the best product choices for every project. Because although the industry needs digital tools for a more efficient and sustainable future, at Brymec we believe that must always be supported by real people who can share their experience and insights to create real value.
