Retrofit for a Greener Future: Brymec and RNW collaborate for a seamless installation of air source heat pumps

  • Main Contractor: RNW Group
  • Client: Whitbread
  • Project: Premier Inn Enfield
  • Brymec Involvement: Product supply, project planning, delivery logistics, carbon-conscious procurement

When RNW Group – a long-standing and trusted customer of Brymec-was awarded the mechanical works contract for the Premier Inn hotel in Enfield, the aim was clear: replace the aging gas boiler system with a modern, energy-efficient air source heat pump solution. This project formed part of Whitbread’s broader sustainability drive to switch to electric solutions, reduce emissions and move towards carbon-neutral solutions. As a carbon-neutral manufacturer and supplier, we were thrilled to support Billy and the RNW Group overcome the challenges of this project and deliver a seamless solution.

The Challenge

Undertaking this kind of retrofit in a live hotel environment presented numerous challenges. Ensuring guests remained unaffected was paramount, particularly when it came to hot water supply. Space limitations within the plant room further complicated material handling and installation logistics. A solution was needed that would ensure minimal disruption, precise coordination, and reliable product delivery.

Brymec’s Tailored Solution

With their longstanding relationship and history of successful collaboration, Brymec and RNW Group worked closely from the very beginning to ensure the project would run smoothly.

In the early planning stages, Brymec’s technical and logistics teams partnered with RNW to scope the system requirements and develop a comprehensive project package. This bespoke package brought together all necessary components for the installation, carefully selected and bundled to match the project timeline and site constraints.

The package was delivered in bulk ahead of the project start, enabling RNW to begin works without delay. Brymec then supplemented this with just-in-time top-up deliveries, precisely scheduled to avoid overstocking and ensure the installation team had the right materials at the right time.

Key products supplied included:

  • Copper press tube and fittings – for fast, reliable, and leak-free installations
  • A comprehensive range of valves – ensuring precise system control and isolation where needed, including the new Brymec PRV
  • Threaded stainless steel pipework and components – providing robust, long-lasting system integrity
  • Support systems – for safe and efficient mounting of equipment and services

This coordinated, pre-planned approach played a critical role in maintaining project momentum and ensuring continuity of hot water for hotel guests throughout.

“The support from Brymec was absolutely faultless. The precision and reliability of their deliveries meant we could stick to our schedule without compromising guest experience.”
