Streamlining building processes

At the beginning of every building project, schedules and budgets are set accounting for the specifics of the job, resource availability and knowledge built up over time on how long things should take and at what cost. Expectations are that they will be followed and met as closely as possible; however, if there’s one type of work that’s subject to enormous (and sometimes unforeseen) variables and the resulting need to juggle priorities, it’s construction.

Every complication can lead to delays, which can snowball along the entire schedule and put a strain on vital project funds. This is why every opportunity to streamline processes must be considered, so that your contractors have the best chance to succeed, on schedule. Every innovation, even those that challenge the notion that ‘how it’s done has always worked well’, is worth looking at.

It’s a matter of time

Connecting heavy-duty steel pipes offers the perfect example. The time-tested method of threading is effective, but labour-intensive, time-consuming and expensive. A large threading machine (which is heavy and needs to be transported, stored and carted around the site) can take up to ten minutes to cut threads, even once set up. Resetting the tool can take just as long. Smaller handheld tools are faster, but don’t provide the consistency of quality threading required for such connections.

Threading also needs a sealing medium, and the threading fitting must be applied and tightened by hand. It also creates a potentially damaging oily mess (and swarf) that needs cleaning after installation.

Welding is also a proven method for connecting heavy-duty steel pipes, but it’s equally labour-intensive, with the added pitfall of working with an open flame.

Don’t be pressed for time. Ever again

The new Brymec Heavy Duty Steel Press range is the perfect complement to our existing copper and stainless-steel press-fit solutions. Our alternative to threading and welding works quickly from the get-go in all building types for closed heating and cooling systems, sprinkler systems, Class 1 and 2 compressed air systems (the latter when assembled with an internal galvanised steel tube), as well as the carriage of hot water and steam.

Brymec’s Heavy Duty Steel Press takes almost all the time needed for preparation, application, and finishing out of the equation, as well as the need for heavy machinery, as you don’t have to cut threads or turn up the heat to fix a joint. It’s the safest, fastest and most cost-effective on-site tube connection method for heavy-duty steel pipes, giving installers time back to use on other tasks (or more connections) and making it far more likely that you can keep to project schedules and budgets.

If you’re already using our Copper or Stainless press solutions, you can use the same press fitting tools provided that they’re coupled with the correct press jaws and collars).

“Brymec’s Heavy Duty Steel Press System was a game changer for us. We took on a private school project right before my annual leave, and I knew traditional screwed barrel joints would take two to three days to install. With the Brymec system, we wrapped it up in less than a day, a massive time saver.
Installation was simple and hassle-free; we just followed the Brymec prep guide, and everything went smoothly. The speed and efficiency it brought to the job were outstanding. I’d definitely use it again and highly recommend it to anyone looking to save time without compromising on quality.”

Press ahead with confidence

Assembly is far quicker and easier with our press-fit solution – aligning and pressing the connection is all it takes. Changing a press jaw from one size to another takes mere seconds, and joints can be painted immediately, without the need to remove oil, making them ready to use straight away. A Press-Sure indicator and an EDPM O-Ring provide an immediate indication of a perfect, leak-proof joint, providing extra certainty. Reduced water and energy usage is a bonus, as clean jointing needs less flushing.

Once installed, you can rest assured that they will work well for the long term. Extremely durable and resistant to fire, impact, corrosion and pressure variations, our Heavy Duty Steel Press range comes with a full 20-year warranty. As well as new installations, our range is ideal for retrofitting to an existing steel piping system, on seamless, welded, black, galvanised, and industrially painted pipes.

What makes them so strong

Just by looking at our Heavy-Duty Steel Press range, it’s easy to see what makes them so effective. You can be certain it will be easy to install and will perform for many years afterwards. Flow-optimised fittings are constructed from high-performance carbon steel protected with a zinc-nickel alloy plating for superior corrosion resistance. Extra connection strength comes from anchor rings made from 420-grade stainless steel, with a tooth profile for maximum capability. Chrome-plated copper safeguard rings maximise the sealing assembly integrity during installation. For peace of mind, an EPDM O-Ring provides long-lasting joint security and the extra security of the leak path feature, and a Press-Sure Indicator Foil gives you immediate visual confirmation that joints are completed.
